MUSHROOMS

The farm consists of 48 growing tunnels, and grows button, closed cup and flat white mushrooms as well as chestnut and shiitake.

SUSTAINABILITY

A 3 megawatt anaerobic digestion plant adjacent to the mushroom farm provides renewable energy to power the facility using organic waste from the crop growing operations in the area. Any surplus electricity generated is fed back to the National Grid to power nearby homes and businesses in a sustainable manner.

BIODIVERSITY

Extensive areas around the farm are managed for wildlife. These include:

  • 0.8 hectare shallow water marsh for wading birds and wildfowl
  • 0.5 hectare ‘wild bird seed mix’ that provides seeds for farmland birds to eat during the winter
  • Over 40,000 trees have been planted to create nesting habitat for birds.
